Eye-Tracking Study on Aberrant Salience and Creativity

We are excited to announce the completion of our eye-tracking study, which investigated how aberrant salience in psychosis proneness and creativity are related to how people look at objects either closely or remotely related to each other. Our findings revealed that in a non-clinical sample, aberrant salience in psychosis proneness is related to a more even distribution of attention between semantically and symbolically related objects. Since attention to metaphors and symbols is traditionally associated with creative thinking, our findings support the theory that mild psychopathology shares similarities with creativity.
